Nothing wrong with starting at 46. However, not sure about the Etude. Pick up an old good horn like Olds, Conn, King etc. for cheap money.

Well, I never actually played a trumpet. :D

I started playing cornet at 10 years old and stopped at 17 years old. Now I'm starting all over again at 50!

I basically stopped because my horn developed a hole in the tubing. Not having any money and not knowing if it could be repaired, I gave it to the school. Something I now regret.

So, now I'm making amends. I just purchased a Conn 15A Director (cornet) in fine condition off of ebay. A smart decision? Don't know. I'm just sentimental and wanted to recapture something from my youth.

I started playing in 6th grade, 11 years old. I started out with a trumpet and as a sophmore I still play trumpet.

I don't plan to ever stop playing the trumpet. It's the greatest instrument in the WORLD:thumbsup:

6th grade until around the time I turned 20. Had to stop since I was on submarines in the Navy, kinda contradictory. My first horn was a used Bundy. I owned several horns until I stopped playing. Some were awesome, some not so much. Sold them all or gifted them along the way. Just bought my first horn in over 11 years. Can't wait to play in public again.

My folks have pics of me "playing" at 4. I don't remember it but pics don't lie right? ;-) Remember playing when I was 10. First horn was a Martin cornet. Don't remember what model but it was a student horn.
