I joined the school band program in sixth grade at age 11. I had my brother's hand-me-down Getzen with a pure copper bell. That bell rotted out before I finished high school. Just call me "Acid Spit". I still have that horn somewhere. I plugged the hole with JB Weld!

    I think I was about 8 or 10 years old when I started, i.e. somewhere between 1975-1977.

I had a "Reynolds" horn, which was made of, maybe ?aluminum? with ugly black plastic casing around the valve columns. It's long gone.

My only horn now is an ugly yet fully functional Bach TR300 that I picked up on ebay for $60 about 3-4 years ago.

Now, basses... that's an entirely different story! ;-)

Started playing when I was 12 (summer before 8th Grade). My first horn was a Bach TR300.

I was 14 when I started playing trumpet. I had a late start as my parents insisted that I complete two or more years of piano lesions before moving on to any other instruments. First trumpet was an Olds Special which have I continued to play (with a few custom changes). I am 65 years old now and retired still playing when and where I can. How wonderful to have time for practice, practice, and still more practice.
