i found this very interesting “trumpet” on reverb that the seller is calling a jazzophone and they want $8500 for it. It seems to play like a trumpet but it’s designed like a saxophone. The thing looks insane and even has a separate bell for using a wow wow mute. I also noticed that the valve block and caps look like they’re from an olds ambassador. So, what do you make of it and would you ever consider buying it at this price point?

Listed in 2016; hasn't sold yet. I can't imagine why... IF I had money to burn, and IF I loved it and had to have it, and IF I was one drink away from unconsciousness, I'd pay up to $3500 for it. I meet none of these three qualifications.

Certainly one of a kind, and looks like excellent craftsmanship. I would love to hear how it plays. Looks like an old A-B switch for the bells......Only one at a time. But i am not THAT ($8500) curious;)

I don't think it will be my choice.

My band director in high school had some classic lines. One of them, when kids, ( not me, of course ) would act up, was "You want me to make a Pirone-ophone out of your trumpet?" Of course that could have been any of the other instruments. He didn't discriminate.
I guess it might have been tricky to make a Pirone-ophone out of a sousaphone, maybe.

I'm thinking of making a Youtube video like the one where the guy destroys his trumpet with a hammer and keeps playing. I want to use fire though......AKA Jerry Lee. It just gets so hot, so fast. Maybe with a longer instrument;)

Better yet, i could have flames coming out of the bell! Just like Eric Myosshiro's vapor smoke, but brighter;)

Could start the video with these famous words.......
"Hey ya'll, watch this" or "Hold my beer"
