Perhaps! My wife likes the idea of "n+1" when it comes to orchids.

No - seems a very good and trusting relationship. Congratulations!

    Not just horns.
    Everything.
    Money.
    Cars.
    Sex.
    Harem.
    Harems.
    More harems.

    You get the point.

String players use the word GAS -- "guitar/gear acquisition syndrome." As in, "Man, I've got some serious gas pains lately ... "

I've actually forbidden myself from buying anything until August 10, 2015. That will be one year since my first purchase ever. If I still want a short shepherd's crook cornet on August 10, 2015, I will start looking. Until then, no. I stick with what I have and learn to make it not fart at me.

(∞ + 1) is infinity and beyond... which for an average trumpet player... takes about a year.

"N" obviously stands for "need", evaluated emotionally, of course. The idea that it just stands for the number of horns you already have is too logical, too limiting... unmusical, if you will.

Isn't that what trumpet players expect EVERYBODY to do? Clap for them?
