Yes I guess. I always thought that the vintage horns were more prone to it.I see you have some nice old horns yourself 1912 ,1941,1947 & 1958 .How do you keep them from getting red rot. Thank you Anthony

I don't consciously do anything to prevent it other than I try to play them on a regular basis and clean and lube which includes blowing valve oil through the horn. I actually don't know if any of the horns in my sig have any issues. The B47 is raw brass so it gets the most attention to detail, the NP is silver plated so not a terrible amount of maintaining. The 48 and 29 still have some original laqure more so on the 29 so they get a mixed treatment but nothing different than anyone else here. I do have a Collegiate cornet with some rot in the leadpipe but I can't tell if it has gotten worse or not and it stays in a work van and doesn't get regular cleanings

From the cobrabrass website it is non abrasive water soluble cleaner, I think it would be quite suitable for use on a trumpet. Would like to try it myself.

Watch the video on the website.

    Regards, Stuart.

I am going to Ottawa on Thursday for my monthly medical treatment and the store isn't far from the hospital. I hope they have some. Does it matter that I have a lacquer finishnon my horn? I have a Suzuki.

Are you sure your trumpet has red rot? I really can't believe Glennx would have recommended a trumpet that had red rot. Can you post a few pictures of the areas of concern?
