I got a great new watch yesterday. It winds itself.

I don't like wearing a wrist-leash, so I wear a pocket watch -- a basic Victorinox (Swiss Army) model. If fashion dictates that I wear trousers without a watch-pocket (as when I wear a tux for a gig), I don't wear a watch at all.

I used to work at a watch repair/jewlery store. So I whent out and bought one of those fancy Seiko Kinetic watches, it was kind of expensive so I waited for the special emplying discount night thingie and i ended up getting it for close to 80% off, still cost me about 70 dollars though, but I love it. Its kind of like that automatic watch that BPinard is so proud of, except it dosn't wind up, it runs off Kinetic energy and charges with any movment that it feels, its quite an exciteing watch...

On the rare occasion that I accidentally forget to put my watch on in the morning (it hasn't happened for YEARS!) I about go crazy without having a watch on my wrist.

I'm a big fan of Citizen watches. I have two eco drive watches - one that I have owned for about 8 years and is so worn that the pins in the bracelet are starting to fall out, and I've actually had it fall off - and the one that I own now that I got to sort of replace it - virtually identical in function. Here is a picture of it.

It has titanium bracelet and case, rotating, dive timer bezel, water resistant to 200 meters and has the eco drive so you don't have to replace the battery. (You do eventually, but it's like once every 8-10 years. I have yet to do it on my old one.)

I picked up one of those SEIKO Kinetic watches back in 1997 and love it. It is still working wonderfully and it is waterproof. :-)
