What should I be listening to?

    Hell yeah, Mendez is the best trumpet player I've ever seen. I got a DVD off of ebay that has several of his performances and a clinic and all I can say is "Oh my God". I've heard just about everybody and if I had to pick who I could magically turn in to, it would be Mendez. I can't think of a more perfect example of sound and technique.

    you've gotten some really good advice esp. on jazz music. I have ashort list of classical pieces I have fo students> these are pieces that are stanard repertoire for orchestras.     Haydn trumpet concerto, Hummel trumpet concerto would be my preferences.
