    Hi everyone

Recently a big trumpet player in the area died and my private teacher was helping sell some of the trumpets off; and he asked me if I would like to buy a Eb/D trumpet. I am planing on going to college for trumpet preformance and edu so he told me I am going to need all of these horns at some point. The Eb/D is a Yamaha YTR 761 with a Pilczuk lead pipe, it is worth about $2,000 but he is selling it to me for $975. My only concern is that I will not use it enough and it will just sit in the closet. I am thinking I am going to get it, but I would like to hear your opinions on the matter.

    Thanks,
    Justin

If you don't use it you can always sell it, right?

Or do you not have the cash?

I can afford it, I just dont know if I should get it now for 1000 off or if I should just save my money and get something else.

I say go for it if you can afford it. Yamaha is a great brand, and will hold its value just fine.
You may not be so lucky to find a deal like this later. I think we have all had that one horn that got away...

Try it out. It's a good price, so if it plays in tune and has a nice warm sound, it sounds like a pretty good deal.

Make sure to maintain it while it's not in use, or you may not be able to get quite as much as you payed.

It needs work, or you need work when playing it? ;-)

It sounds like a really great horn.

    Congrats!
