It varies according to which horn, but I try to always have:
    1.) Valve Oil
    2.) Straight mute
    3.) Harmon mute
    4.) Cup mute
    5.) Horn stand
5.) READING GLASSES (experience has taught me to ALWAYS have a spare pair)
    6.) Handkerchief
7.) Blistex medicated lip balm (But ONLY for afterward. Can't play with that stuff on my lips)
8.) Flask with Ancient Ancient Age Bourbon (Really, nobody else carries this in their case on a regular basis? I do, however, see some small smiles if church musicians see it in the recesses of my case)
    9.) Mechanical pencil
In other words, just the basics

Great lists and a lot to think about. I also carry mosquito spray, electrical & plumbers tape, tissues. Somedays my playing makes me cry.
I cannot get over carrying underwear in the trumpet case. It seems wrong not matter what the reason.

Seperate bag for mutes, oil, stands etc...

Barliman, Don't you find the sloths crawl away after a while?
