I quoted this because I remember the thread --- and I still typically warm down in a regular practice (but in a regular practice for me, it is way more stressing than my typical 3rd chair community band seat, which is not particularly difficult at all) ---but on a regular practice I usually do some long tones from the C below the staff down to the low F# is what I do. OR in the last 3 years since I started doubling on the trombone, I usually end up a practice session with the trombone, which I feel in many ways, relaxes my muscles as compared to the trumpet ---------------- but this is just what I do!!!! I often (but not always) play pedal tones last. It feels good, like a lip massage.

While I am not religious about warming down, I do attempt to do this regularly. I usually use my bass trumpet working my same music in a warm down, that way, I can still practice the fingering and rhythms; followed by hitting the pedal tones.
