I wonder how many other "vocal" instrument imitations can be found. I remember seeing (many years before YouTube) a whistler who could not be distinguished from a piccolo, you should have heard his rendition of Stars an Stripes Forever.

The Mills Brothers wre the masters
Listen to the trombone solo at about 2:10 and brass hits throughout.

It's too bad the kids don't know about great groups such as the Mills Brothers. They're missing out on a lot of great music.

In 1984 I heard a Bobby McFerrin cut on our local PBS radio station from his new record, The Voice. Amazed, I bought it, and played it for my roomate's brother. His comment was: "Sounds to me like a [insert the racial slur of your choice] who taught himself to sing."

Sometimes one of the cool things about being a trumpet player is the fact that we have a sort of weapon in our hands.

It is amazing what ignorance can do to some people. Bobby McFerrin is one of those rare talents that can do just about anything with the voice. I am sure you know he was classically trained and his father was an opera singer. I too think he is great and I think one of the most astounding things I ever heard was he and Yo Yo Ma performing together.
