I used to have some disco trumpet album of this guy when he was just a kid from the 70's. It seems he's made quite a few more albums. Listened to some of the tracks and he does have quite the range chops.

Curious: What do you think of him and why not more talk about him?

I've never mentioned him because I have no idea who he is, never heard him play live and don't believe what is recorded.

I am also a kid from the 60s and 70s. Nobody talks about me either.

I've heard the name many times but never heard/seen him until that clip (thanks Wilmer!).

He can definitely blow the horn!

I have heard the name, he is definitely proficient, but found his performance bad taste, though his tone and technique are very good.

Paul Cacia was a Claude Gordon student. A solid player with a great lead sound and plenty of chops, he never out-Faddis'ed anyone or out-Vizzutti'ed anyone, therefore the relative obscurity. I'd happily trade rowuk's daughter to play like him, though!
