    Hay, get it done. And look at the bright side, you get a couple days of taking legal narcotics! So by then you will be thinking, there's a little pain, but who the hell cares! Then you giggle a bit, then you fall to sleep. Life is good.

    Just because you shouldn't play for a while does not mean that everything have to stop! The pencil exercize a couple times a day can bridge a week or so of not playing. A bit of yoga can keep you breathing fully and in a relaxed way. You can finger through hard scales and passages. Reading scores is a good thing to keep the mind working.

    If your desk looks like mine, the opportunity away from the horn can bring satisfaction in other areas too. Our overall state improves when things that we have been wanting to get to for days, weeks, months, years finally get done. Dedicate your daily practice time to other beneficial things - not the couch or blogging!
