So, I have only seen a million, well maybe a little less, threads on mouthpieces. I thought I would contribute one more.

At the request of my instructor I tried the Yamaha 16c4 mouthpiece today as I ran through my first session. I was on it for an hour and all I can say is WOW! That thing is a beast. I love it though, I love the amount of warm air I can blow through the horn. It also made my tone a little more mellow.

Now, the true test comes after the honeymoon is over. Will I still be able accomplish my objectives. It also seems to have address some slotting issues I was having.

Yea, his reason was due to air.

He said that I produce a ton of air, which is good. As a result he said the 5c I was using was not able to handle the volume of air I produce. So, he suggested this mouthpiece. It is definitly a Beast.

Sound like it was a good choice. Also your sound will be broader.
