    I'll bet he is saying to play musically and within what the music is asking for. We all must play with some control.

    Ditto. His sound (Wynton's) is a bit on the cornetish side but that's a general trend in trumpet world today. I guess that the bottom line is to avoid to sound harsh unless is required.

    I think he is talking about a sound concept you should have while practicing Arban's, Schlossberg etc. as part of a regular routine. Making those exercises sound good really helps to develop embouchure strenth. That strength makes it easier to play anything.

    ????? Golly Gee uncle Bob. And I thought all these many years that the trumpet was a member of the Brass family of instruments.

    That's nuthin' - Utah has an entire team of Jazz players who can really rock the place (until they play the Lakers).
