Sorry, just me being unnecessarily pedantic - again, and you are so very correct nice horn.
Yea, y'know, I kept sayin' "Wyn, man cut down the Bling this time"... he finally listened to his buddy Bachstul.
It looks uglier than my beat up old York. What's up with the trashed bead on the bell?
Really-- look at the bead on the right side of the picture.
Its in raw brass, and not finished at all, so the solder shows...
that's all i see
I think something got lost between your eyes and brain. There is nothing wrong with the bead. Monettes bead is much wider and "flatter" than on "standard" trumpets. The bell material is an alloy used previously on the Raja (a bronze alloy if I remember right). It is a two piece design "fused" together instead of soldered. Dave gets a, in his opinion better resonance pattern than with asymmetrical one piece designs.
That thing looks sweet with that reddish bell and their new engraving technology, judging by how much better the P3 plays than my 993 I bet the looks are far less than half the story as well. Their is also a noticeable difference in the tuning slide bend compared to my 993, the bend seems to be lower, less symmetrical, hmm?
Cool pictures. I don't think Dave Monette would approve of it sitting on the bell like that though!
I'd be willing to take his old horn off his hands
