Dont mean to be offensive or anything, but on this site i recognise that people play on more than one horn. ie some people have multiple horns listed. i understand if this is for different keyed trumpets like D, C etc but why lots of horns in the same key?! just wondering to be honest!

We need ways to show off, if we have money and less talent, we buy super expensive horns and lots, if we don't have money and loads of talent, we play, if we have both, we're super lucky :)

isn't it easier to show of with talent than to buy more and more horns!:play:

Not if you're working a 14 hour day and getting a million a week.

I have three trumpets in Bb. If a job comes up and one is in the shop I have a spare. If something happens to that trumpet, i can pull out the third. I can't imagine TWO horns having an accident on the same day.... If I decide to buy another, I will first sell one of the ones I have. Luckily I got excellent buys on the 3 I own. I have less than $1,000. in the three of them combined. I don't buy unless the price is right.

Certainly Pros and semi pros need back up instruments, even those performing for nothing can find a back up useful. I think there is a bit of the obssessive in all of us though, looking for the next toy.

Most of the time I play my MF Monette. About 90%
If I have to march I us a Bach 37.

There is a reason for 2 right off the bat.
If I have a cornet solo I will use the Bach Cornet.

If I were someone that had a Getsen Eterna, I would use it for lead and maybe a Bach for legit.

There are a lot of reasons for 2 and less reasons for 3 but, you could still need 3 or 4.
