Advice Needed

Hi everybody!
I have a very specific question. My father has been playing trumpet fot almost all of his life. Before some10 years, when he left professional music industry, he selled his olds trumpet because of financial difficulties. Now he has started to play trumpet again, but he has very s####y and cheap yamaha. So i'm going to get some very best trumpet for him. But sadly i haven't got a lot of competence in this field, so i thought that maybe you could give me some advice, which would be the best choice.
I'm very interested in SchilkeX3, so maybe you could tell me about this one little bit more, or maybe even recommend something better.

Sildniks,
you will do your dad the biggest favor if he is involved in the decision. A trumpet is a partner for life and like your mom, he picked her out, not you.

The coolest thing would be if you could find out what kind of Olds that he had and find a vintage one in great shape! It would bring memories back that NO new horn ever could - you know, like his first kiss!

I agree, with a caveat; you can do this without involving him, IF you can find the same horn (or a 'better' version') used on someplace like ebay.

Re: Advice Needed

well, the problem is that we are living ir Baltic(Latvia), and there isn't any possibility to get olds. except ebay, of cours, but sadly there is only used olds, but this time i'm up to have some new stuff. :)
And, as much as i now, he is pretty big fan of Schilke, so thats why i'm very interested in it.

Sveiks! In my opinion, the Shilke line is wonderful. The model of choice should be your fathers. He will have to live with it, much like his choice of a wife. In all cases, he should try out several different trumpets and let him decide which of them is the horn for him.
