![]() | Re: Charlier 1 Be careful, 5 seconds could destroy the context, then what's it worth? I've always thought that etudes were great for recitals - the ultimate solo trumpet piece. However, their success all depends on whether or not you have something to say with the music, otherwise it's just a display of motor skills. B |

![]() | Re: Charlier 1 You might feel more comfortable playing one of the Top Tones by W.M. Smith, less challenging and a bit shorter. We don't get graded on ours, but my teacher gives us a list of 'recommended' literature, not too hard for high school but I guess that will change in college. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Charlier 1 It sounds to me like your approach to the Etude is a bit on the heavy side. As trumpetdiva mentioned, try the work with lighter tonguing. Endurance shouldn't be a problem, it's about a minute and a half of light playing. Think lightness. Wilmer
