For the last two months I have been using a product called "facial flex"which is recomended by Patrick Hession, lead player for Maynard......check out Patricks site as it has an illustration of the product.

I like the product....it gives you more strenth without getting your chops tight. The motion involved in this using this product involves streching , and that is very important.

I just found the "Facial Flex" on the QVC website for $ 29 if anybody is interested. Looks like it should work.

The "Flattergrub" or literally, the "uncouth flutter" was the very descriptive term that the Germans had for the pedal tone. Apparently some players could produce a "Flattergrub" and nothing more.
