Re: Facial Hair on Trumpeters

I agree with VB. Violists are hirsute period, especially the women. Why is that?

Regards,

Chuck, I hope you realize my entire reply to this question was ment to be humorous...my God, we all know women are great drivers, especially when they're putting on make-up or yaking on the cell phone. I would shave my beard for your woman also lucky man!..........................crowmadic

OK, it's a stretch because trumpets aren't involved. Females and facial hair are, however. I wonder if she plays viola?

She weighs over 800 pounds, has facial hair and fish breath, and she's fallen in love with Phil Demers. But he doesn't mind. He is after all her trainer and the "she" in question is a walrus at Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ont.

Re: Facial Hair on Trumpeters

Like a mouthpiece, or even weighted bottom caps for your trumpet - the moustache is a tweek for your playing. It increases the density of your upper lip, making it a better match for a "heavy" trumpet. Mendez kept his small because he wanted a brighter sound!

If you play outdoors in the cold, it is a collection point for the frozen moisture coming out of your nose - thus keeping the top of the mouthpiece ice free!
