Yes, not only is the foam more rugged, it also has more 'grip'.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try to find that foam, as I also think it will work better than cork. The Jo-ral is heavier than a H&B harmon mute. I've always had trouble getting the mute to stay in the bell.
