Re: ITG - Attending?

Mikey,

Congrats! I didn't know you were switching or for that matter you'd been playing Monettes.

Sorry. I must start paying better attention.

I like hearing all the positive comments about any given marque's products. Let's one know there's still bunches of folks out there who not only try their best, put lots of know-how into it, and actually improve things.

Re: ITG - Attending?

Hi Richard,

I have actually been off the Monette for quite a while. 3 main reasons:

1. I got tired of losing work because I played them (seems to be a bias against them in my freelance world)

2. I got tired of the lack of customer service.

3. I ended up tearing a tendon in my left elbow (from holding up the heavy horns for 10 years.

I went from the Monettes to Laskey/ Bach conversions. They were too tight and bright for me. I then was one of the first to get a Yamaha Chicago C from Dillon Music. That horn was ok, but played on the low side of the pitch for me.

After playing Alex's LBMR Eclipse C, I found what I had been looking for. And........they are half the cost of a new Monette. I also found that Eclipse trumpets are not at all mouthpiece-finicky and blend well with other brands.
