I basically told him in a crude translation, since my grammar in het Nederlands leaves much to be desired....."Much thanks my friend. I am not a girl, so meisje would not do and I chose vrouw because I am a woman, but I am also a lady. Since I am married to my music and my trumpet, I guess I am a trumpet wife. The Van Dale is, of course, correct. The nuance is that dame is to vrouw as lady is to woman; i.e., think of one as the more sophisticated/up-scale version of the other.

I think we've crossed notes together back in the day in Lincoln. I studied with Denny for a time, the same time as Laurie Frink. How's Steve Wright, still working your part of the world?

Yeah! Steve is still doin' his thing:) He's just south of town teaching at Gustavus Adolphus College... tenure!

I'm hoping to run into Laurie when I'm in NY this next week, I'll pass on a hello if you'd like.
