| Pianissimo User | Re: Practice Rooms Yamaha Silent Brass isn't as wonderful as an open horn and it has some back pressure. Like all practice mutes, it is a necessary evil. I use it only when it's past quiet hours in my dorm or when I don't want to wake up the snoring roommate. But my first choice is to find an empty room in the music building or practice outside. The practice room is my last resort. The practice rooms just aren't the perfect setting to be able to fix what you want and sound like you want. But a lot of that has to do with your ears.
