![]() | Re: Preferred form of vibrato Same here actually. I use hand vibrato and and quite fond of it... I just hear so much about the jaw vibrato being much more benficial in the long run, so I've beeb having at it but just can't get it right. I can't "feel" the vibrato if it's not coming from my hand. |

![]() | Re: Preferred form of vibrato I just shake the trumpet or if I am singing, I shake my head to get vibrato. I have not been playing the trumpet long so only I ask out of interest. What technique is used for Mariachi, BTW?

I use jaw vibrato on trombone and euphonium, slide vibrato on jazz trombone, and hand vibrato with a trumpet. With low brass mouthpieces, you have much less of a chance of losing the note with jaw vibrato, just because there is more room. With a trumpet mouthpiece, at least in my case, I like to be careful, and hand vibrato sounds great, in about any setting that needs it.

| Forte User | Re: Preferred form of vibrato yes Mariachi is a very fast very wide jaw vibrato. I think the jaw vibrato can be developed into many different musical aspects (ex. Classical, Jazz, Mariachi) If you can hear what your doing, you can relate it to what your playing.
