Re: Simply excruciating

I'll give it a whirl. It is a little mean, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I have often ended a lesson with a student, paging through material, saying to the student something like, "hhhmm, how mean do i want to be?" before assigning one of the Arban Characteristic Studies or something. If it works out I'll give you a lip flexibility thing I got from a Cuban trombonist that is extraordinarily mean.

Re: Simply excruciating

Man....THAT"S HARD!!!

what's even more impressive though is that someone spelled excruciating correctly!
That's REALLY HARD!!! ( at least it is for me...I had to look at the thread topic to spell it right in my post)
Best

Manny,
I really love when I jump on the site and I see you have posted something like this. It's very motivating to get these little ideas and "challenges" from you.

I'd like to throw this idea out there without putting you on the spot. It's just thinking out loud and if it doesn't work or can't reasonably be done that's fine. So along the lines of what you said about inspiring our community (which is great), do you have the means of say audio or video recording yourself playing this exercise and then posting it on the site? So we could have that sound model to follow. I realize that I am being very "forward" and understand if you respectfully decline.

But wouldn't it be cool if we had little clips like on the Monette sight of all the little things Manny suggests... yea... it would. :)

Thanks for all your advice Manny!

That sounds like fun, making a video. I just have to figure out how to do it.
