Re: The skinny on Schill...

Thanks for the input guys, humorous and informative. Having grown up in Brooklyn, N.Y. I've had my fill of scams. But when it comes to trumpets I like to double-check with my TMers.

Hi,

The name-brand bass trumpets are not cheap which is very understandable. Seems like they are in the it was $2,500 + range for new ones.

What prices were these Schill" bass trumpets being advertised for?

That should tell you something?

Best wishes!

Lloyd

Actually I think W.C Fields did the joke first in the '30's or earlier

"Dewey, Cheatham & Howe" was a law firm on one (or more) of the old 3 Stooges shorts, probably dating from the 1930's. Where they got it, who knows.

Re: The skinny on Schill...

I am a band director and one of my students was just given a Schill trumpet by his parents. The back pressure on that piece of junk is horrendous. Intonation is worse. I don't think the thing would make a decent lamp.

The fact that they're being sold on ThiefBay is a strong "stay away" signal.

What do you do in a case like that? Tell the kid what he's got, or try to work with him/it?
