About Mendez' posture: in the Tre Mendez Polka video on YouTube all three play with their trumpets raised - I wonder, was there a teleprompter up there, out of camera range? Or somebody hanging down from the rafters with an enlarged score?

Re: tongue and jaw position

I don't think there is a right or wrong way.
No matter what rule we come up with some body will come up with a great player that breaks it.

To get better I find a problem and try to figure out why it's happening. If you are having trouble making big jumps from low to high or high to low, you might look at jaw position. If you aren't having trouble, why mess with a good thing.

For a young player, I try to stay as mainstream as possible. When they get better they can veer off a little to get a little customized for their body.
