Is the (across the board) access to good teachers due to the scarcity of full-time playing opportunities?

Is this a case of "those who can WOULD do, but instead they must teach"?

"Contemporary composers are writing such demanding parts" which is partly due to their lack of knowledge as to what is good for the trumpet. I had one composer ask me to perform his piece…………….let me insert here that this request was without my knowledge that the best trumpet players in Israel could not cut it 100%..............because he heard that it would not be any problem for me to pick off those high notes.

He sent me the score and I could not believe my eyes.

I asked him what instrument he played. He said that he was a piano player and he said that he didn't think that the score was difficult to play. He wanted it to sound like a trumpet.

Got the picture? Piano music is one thing and if they want it to sound like a trumpet, then put in on an organ, IMO.

I turned down this offer.
