| Mezzo Piano User | I'll probably burn for saying this but there is no one trumpet sound. Why? Because each day we pick up the horn, we put emotion and feeling into what we play. Is there anyone out there who feels the exact same way every time you pick up your horn? |

| Mezzo Piano User | No, but maybe the third trumpet player does. No matter how hard a person tries they can not be the same day in and day out. It is physically and mentally impossible. |

| There are two kinds of trumpet playing... good and bad. If it sounds good, it's good. (Logic borrowed from Count Basie!) Meg |

| for starters, that was Duke, not Count. i was listening to Rick Braun today. he's an excellent player on his new Getzen, but to me it sounded like a flugel horn rather than a trumpet. i ask, are we so fly nowadays that a trumpet can sound like anything you want it to sound like or is there a trumpet sound as opposed to a flugel horn sound or a cornet sound? i mean why don't these guys just buy flugel horns and be done with it? |

| While I agree with almost everyone on how the trumpet should sound I still think it is all about the player (a.k.a. the artist) If the player likes the darker sounding trumpet, why not? A painter can put what ever he wants in his painting. Whether people like the painting is a different story... Tim |
