My stand currently has Arbans, Irons, Concone, Clark, my marching band music, some old audition music, a scale page, and a list of schools that I have to start filling out applications for, yikes. Still have to figure out what to play for my auditions...

Clark Technical Studies Arbans Amsdens (I was playing with my daughter this morning) Orchestral Excerpts volume 1 Hindemith Honegger Intrada Tartini Concerto The Trumpet Wedding Book Arutunian transposed for C trumpet Fasch Concerto in D Two pencils Really it is just a Manhasset stand. Arbans has to go on the floor when I'm done but it's a pretty regular thing.

It was written in the 1860 to help give cornetists a way of improving and becoming better musicians. It covers all facets of musicianship and is where many, many players complete find the way to double tongue, triple tongue, play wide intervals. It's a very old book, so, the songs in it are from operas and popular tunes of the time. It's been edited by many people and one of the publishers is Carl Fisher. If you are studying privately, your teacher should make you aware of this book and have you buy it for your studies. There are some really fun duets as well as famous solos you can use for contests and things. I've gone through two copies of it and my son plays from the bass clef version of it as he is a trombonist. It's worth your checking out. ML | |

Walter Beeler's collection of 15 trumpet solos. No, I don't think I'll master this book any time soon, but it is still fun to play around with. There are a few pieces in there that I would consider playing for special occasions at my church or a wedding and there are some that I wouldn't attempt at this stage of the game (Handel flute Sonata, Schubert Allegro, etc). Guess I better stick to jazz! Greg

What's on my stand...hmm...let me check Technique Sound: Some weird scales sheet my teacher gave me that has all the scales major and minor in all octaves a trumpet could play in thirds fourths fifths...man it's so weird, s'not funny. Longtone excercises that make you feel like you're in a different universe after you play them (getting real dizzy). Etudes: My arbans book. Concerto: Arturian Orchestral Excerpts Mahler 3 and 5 Petrushka Pictures some Beethoven stuff I know. Seems like a lot of stuff, but I have a big stand too.
