By all means try a mouthpiece of a different material, but at all costs avoid ones made out of bacon.
Most rashes and pimples people get are more likely due to chafing and moisture on the lips than and allergic reaction: mouthpiece daiper-rash. Probably best to play when it irritates and then stop until it feels better.
