Re: Who would you choose?

Raphael Mendez, for his incredible precision and evident joy of playing. Paved the way for the trumpet as a true classical solo instrument. Incredible life story too.

Re: Who would you choose?

I think considering what I play, I would have to go either Wynton Marsalis or Gerard Schwarz. Wynton because of his ability to play most any genre. And then Gerard Scwarz because of his grace when he plays classical pieces.

Re: Who would you choose?

How easy can this one be.....I'd pick me, but that's why I'm a trumpet player in the first place. I wouldn't want to "sound" like someone else

Re: Who would you choose?

In my very humble opinion that seat should be shared by at least three fantastic trumpeters. In no particular order, they would be Maurice Andre, Raphael Mendez, and Timofei Dokshitzer. I have long envied them all for their almost unbelievable talent. I have never heard of any of them blowing even one sour note in a performance. In addition, they all had the reputation of being fine men.
