To be clear Albert, I think the sound of a large bell on a D or Eb trumpet can be very good. My larger Schilke bells for my E3L are quite large, and have an almost cornet shape to the flare. But the high G's (D trumpet) or F#'s (Eb trumpet) better be low enough! On my E3L I definitely can play these notes in tune, but they want to ride high, and keeping the pitch down is more work on a piece (beethoven 7) with an already substantial work load.

Yes, the Eb and D are good, but better with the "extra" big bells. I think I will just have a paar trumpets , I'll try in the rehearsal. The feeling is not the same with diferent orchestras, specially if there is a "chamber" aproach of the work, or a "full symphonic" one. Tuning is a primary goal, while we need a stability on the high A. My new trumpet (rotary C)has a "Vienna key" for the A and another for the C. Usually, I don't use them, because I'm not used to, and any of my teachers use it. Some other players say, this keys are wonderful, specially for this Symphony.

If you got 'em, use 'em. That's is precisely what they're for. It would be not using your third slide to bring low D in tune.
