Children of Sanchez Solo

My all time favorite solo for jazz band, children of sanchez on flugel! I love the way it sounds and the way my lips feel when I change my tone for it!

Which rendition are we talking about? I'm assuming you're asking about the Chuck one?

Re: Children of Sanchez Solo

Chuck Mangione did a great job! It is interesting transcribing this stuff to get a feel what went on in his head.
It is not so interesting to hear somebody else play the same chorus - there are sooooo many other good notes out there!

Re: Children of Sanchez Solo

Whether one wants to admit it or not growing up as a teenager in the early 80's here in Canada(in my case a northern town called Sudbury in Ontario), Chuck Mangione got a lot of airplay, especially "Feels So Good". So he was one of my earliest influences. In fact I remember my first summer as a trumpet player playing that tune almost all day and every day at the cottage.I can still play the high D out of tune to this day!!!My favorite album of his would be "Live At The Hollywood Bowl" . In Drum corps and I suppose Marching Bands too his repertoire was very popular. The Blue Devils did a lot of his stuff.Unfortunately my memories of "Children Of Sanchez" were less memorable ones since I toured with the circus and that tune was the closer for the entry of the elephants.Let's just say the elephants weren't into Chuck's music! Chuck had his time in music history for better of for worse!Play your heart out! Enjoy!
