![]() ![]() | Re: Doc Severinsen's Final Big Band Tour A few corrections. Doc is from Arlington, Oregon. He knows how to ride a horse. No lessons needed.

![]() ![]() | Re: Doc Severinsen's Final Big Band Tour I thought Doc was a major breeder of quarter horses? His equestrian interests would be interesting to hear about. I used to handicap horses in Seattle and I like watching a strong horse that can run without touching the ground. Jim

![]() | Re: Doc Severinsen's Final Big Band Tour Doc's daughter & son-in-law breed quarter horses (as far as I can remember). His son is a horse trainer in the Bay area. Doc's interest in horses these days is to ride every day that he can. He quit jumping several years ago when he was thrown & hurt his back. He once had the chance to buy an interest in a horse at the advice of his son-in-law. He decided not to thinking of how he had promised his wife & business manager that he would stop buying horses. The horse? Sunday Silence. As they watched Sunday Silence win the Kentucky Derby, Emily told Doc NOT buying the horse was one of the dumbest things he'd ever done. He just can't win. |

| Pianissimo User | Re: Doc Severinsen's Final Big Band Tour May try Decatur - lived there for 8 years. Have some trouble imagining enough people interested in someone of Doc's talents at that location. Did not find them when I lived there. But I was busy raising kids as a single parent. Doc has been tops in my book. One of Gerry's kids - and I still have my 1965 Eterna (original owner).

![]() ![]() | Re: Doc Severinsen's Final Big Band Tour I bet the Decatur concert is sold out. It is inside the Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis and every place in South Eastern Iowa quadrangle. Easy drive for most of us. Our next campaign is to convince Doc to start writing his biography. Maybe Jens will show up in Decatur?
