![]() | Hey,all... I'm glad you enjoyed this week's show... it was fun for us with Litton. I don't think I've ever played that last movement as slowly as we did with him. It was really dramatic and beautiful to be a part of. Now, a couple of stories regarding the week: So, I finish the second movement and it's time to walk off, grab the D and head upstairs to the final balcony, the 3rd tier. I get up there fine, the monitor is ready (there's no way to see the conductor and you can't hear the orchestra without a monitor from where Andy wanted me to be) I sit down and wait for the cue by Doug who, of course is playing first on stage. I come and am playing along when I hear this mild ruckus in the corridor where I'm playing. Somebody in the third tier has left their seat and is engaged in some conversation while I'm trying to be artistic! (keep focused, keep focused... keep singing, c'mon, sing...) Okay, it seems to be over. I turn the page and continue without incident until the third entrance. As I'm getting ready to play, out of the corner of my eye I see some idiot standing at the end of the hallway watching me, enjoying the view. I start waving at him to get the Hell out of there. Focus, calm down... daah dah-daah-de dah daaaaah da.... After the show Marni Hougham, our english horn player and also the wife of Craig Hara from Chuck's CD, comes up to me after the show and says "Hey, Manny.. while you were playing the solo a couple started making out in the audience." I said "Well, I guess that means they got it!" All in a days work, I suppose. ML |
