Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto

Don't get mega-upset There was some arrangment of the Second movement of the concerto 4th down and it was in some ABRSM grade book. Cannot remember which one. You can do the same and transpose all the concerto 4th. Otherwise if you have the chops to play the original pitch version you can get e free solo part in pdf from http://ic2.epfl.ch/~gmermoud/files/music/haydn_sib.pdf or http://la.trompette.free.fr/parts/haydn_sib.pdf . I hope this helps

Hey Manny,

I thought Emeril was a drummer. I'm pretty sure he was accepted (with a scholarship) to NEC as a jazz drummer.

Now, I read that in wikepedia but had read a few years ago in a magazine that he was a trumpeter!

He looks like a trumpeter, doesn't he?

Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto

Tab= Tabulatur and is the standard notation for a Lute/Guitar. It is basically a no brainer because it tells you where to put each finger on each string. Trumpet tabs would be cool because they would not only tell you where to put your fingers, but also your lips, giving you effortless, unlimited range!

Get a midi trumpet, then you can play any note even with no embouchre!

I am amazed by how easy producing notes is on other isntruments.
A pianist can go off for a week and still be able to play the full range.

Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto

thanks alot. If you guys have any other "songs" you would recommend me to play wich could hear difficult without being so. You see, im playing for my music teacher at school, so im supposed to impress him as much as possible.
so if u know of anythign that will be suited for that purpose, please let me know. I consider myself a medium skilled trumpeter, but prolly here at this site im just a low-skilled one, your all probably a bunch of hardcore trumpeters.

thx. megaknut.

Re: Haydn, Trumpet Concerto

Yea, TAB is BIG with non-reading string players. If you know the tune, it tells you where to put your fingers. You then have something to work with. As was said before, you have to know the rhythms. It does take a little time and you develop a knack for reading the, so it is weird that one wouldn't just leard to read music. I guess it's sort of like reading phonetic English, LOL....
Weird~~~

You are looking for the third movement. In smiley notation it starts off:

Mega,

Don't look to impress your teacher...at least not with some technical stuff...how about impressing him with your musicality or a fresh interpretation of something? If I was you I would get something that fit my playing very well....Your words do not reveal anything precise about your abilities on the trumpet (grades, years of playing, the most recent piece that you have played would be better) in order to give an advice about a particular piece to choose. Don't look to impress-make music and have fun doing it.
