![]() | Re: Interesting article on noise level in the NY Times Well, I did leave out the part about violas. I said it in German (Swabian) though:"Sagamal, kannst Du nicht lauter als 60db spielen?" ("C'mon can't you play louder than 60db?") I would then say: "Versuchamal mein Geraetle kaput zu machen!" ("Try to break my machine!") Being German they love bells and whistles, and since most were teenage boys they liked breaking stuff, too. I developed some pretty loud players. |

| Re: Interesting article on noise level in the NY Times In our concert band we just performed Mars from Holst's the Planets. I'm sure the women in the flute section weren't happy after that one. The ending to that piece they just have to sit there and duck and cover. Very dangerous noise levels! |

| Re: Interesting article on noise level in the NY Times Quote:
SOme of the guys were fooling around with it in the morning before the vendor rooms opened. About 6 or 7 of us tried it out.....repeatedly. Bobby from the Synergy Brass group "won" the "compettition" using my Solar Bell Eclipse. He blew 126 decibels! Next was another one time TMer who blew 124 decibels. Alas, I was only 3rd with 123 decibels. It was a pretty funny morning! -cw- Last edited by Solar Bell : 04-28-2008 at 02:06 PM. | |

| New Friend | Re: Interesting article on noise level in the NY Times Alot of the dynamics and volume levels that the brass players do in that piece are absolutely insane! Its one of my favorite pieces of orchestral/symphonic music. |
