![]() | "So would you do your full warm-up on stage? I think over here people might blow a few notes (I've even seen some practising but nothing MAJOR) but do the majority of the warm up backstage." Dear Jack, No, not at all. It would more be a question of getting a good feel for the room, last minute adjustments in seating... things like that. ML |

![]() | Oh ok, that sounds similar to what we would do over here. I guess it's just the coming on together thing that's different. So if the orchestra come on at different times, do they not get a "clap" as such? (ie. normally here the orchestra gets applauded when they come on ... then the leader, conductor etc.) Interesting stuff - can't wait to see you guys when you do that prom. |

![]() | "So if the orchestra come on at different times, do they not get a "clap" as such? " Jack, One of the sneaky joys our two cultures enjoy is the difference between idiomatic and slang phrases. If you were a Yank and ask that same question about the personal habits of an entire symphony orchestra you would be told "That's between us and our doctors!". The "clap" is a euphemism for venereal disease. Hope you're presently laughing as hard as your Yank brethren. ML |
