I was told during my undergrad that he did and that it included Hummel and Arutunian. I have never seen a copy of this album though, but I truly would love to!

I doubt that the CD you talk about is available. It is called Favourite Trumpet Concertos, 1990. Collins Quest 30082

1. The Lighter Side of Maurice Murphy - The Lighter Side of Maurice Murphy [Doyen - doycd007] The Leyland DAF Band [CD] | 4barsrest.com shopping

2.Maurice Murphy And Don Lusher With Hammonds Sauce Works Band - Just Good Friends - Maurice Murphy And Don Lusher With Hammonds Sauce Works Band - Just Good Friends - World Of Brass

3. YI6 CONCERTO - MAURICE MURPHY SOLOIST - RARE 1982 POLYPHONIC - I am affraid that this is impossible to get hold of

4. Quotation from Maurice's retirement podcast comments:
"Peter Morgan
I was a student at the Northern School of Music in Manchester in the mid 60's when Maurice was with the BBC Northern Symphony - when George Cottam was still on bass trombone - a long time ago. I can remember secretly recording Maurice playing the Hummel Trumpet Concerto at a Friday Lunchtime Concert in Manchester Town Hall. It was inspirational and became one of my most played tapes. What was more amazing to me as a young student was the after concert drink when I found that Maurice was just an ordinary fellow who played trumpet, who even bought his round. What set him aside of course was his amazing talent and ability, not that he ever let that get in the way. I have followed his career over the years and am pleased that he still at the top of his game. Congratulations Maurice and all the best for a long and happy retirement."

I would certainly assume that it is unavailable. It was a rare LP (I saw it on ebay a few years ago, went for big bucks) and will likely never make the transition off of vinyl to cd.

Not exactly a solo CD but he features on Quiet City with the LSO under MTT.

recorded 1994 reprinted 2006 catalogue no. 0946 3 45287 2 6

Hope this helps.

I have the Favourite Trumpet Concertos CD. He performs the Haydn, Hummel and Arutunian Concertos. He also performs Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary and Trumpet Tune. His Arutunian is fantastic. Very clean elegant playing throughout. Very sparkling tone.

He also made a nice recording of the Shostakovich 1st Piano Concerto with a great photo on the cover, with Gilbert Levine conducting the Krakow Philharmonic and Garrick Ohlsson on piano. (I'd post a photo but I don't know how to do that on this site!)
