| Fortissimo User | I was playing it with Mediaplayer... and recording it to the computer using the Creative Labs soundcard software..... I managed to get two concerts saved but the computer froze on the 3rd one and now I can't play any of them online! Don't know what's going on at this point. Realplayer won't handle the streaming audio neither. |

I have never heard the Goldenberg & Schmuyle played like that before, with that type of dynamic nuancing. Is that a Laureano specialty, or did the boss ask for it? It was quite effective. Really enjoyed the performance, though you have a couple of percussionists that were stepping on the daisies at the end of the Great Gate... Otherwise, the band sounds great! J |

No, the SG % S was all Abbado but I will say that I really enjoyed playing it that way. There was much more personality to the skinny, whining little beggar of Moussourgski's imagination that way. Like someone who vascillates between muttering and shouting. Actually the percussionists were spot on... now, I will say that the piano's left hand grace notes that Moussorgski wrote are included in the timpani part and it sounds like some is constantly coming in a split second early. The bass drum part is equally odd with the entrances seemingly off but they're quite right. Thanks for checking it out, ML | |

![]() | Yeah, I agree. Those grace notes are an attempt to replicate those bottom octave grace notes that pianists have to play in order to span the entire range Moussorgksi wrote. I don't find it to be a particularly successful affort on Ravel's part. It's more like a distraction. It would almost sound better if there were more distance between the grace note and the main note. ML |
