Try a real Budwieser and you'll understand why Americans bought the name.

I DID! When last we played in Deutschland I tried the original, German Budweiser and it's a dandy little beer, quite tasty!

If my beer memory serves me correctly, the real Budweiser is called Czechvar. Buweiser was originally called Budvar, meaining from the town of Bud. A-B bought the name, but the original town still manufactures the beer originally called Budvar, but now it is Czechvar, meaning, from the country of Czech. This is also the reason why you won't find "Budweiser" in most european countries, just "Bud."

Well, I have to say that I most definitely saw the ads for Budweiser and did have something called Budweiser.

So, there.

Maybe my beer memory isn't as good as I thought...

I've never been to Germany, but when I was in London 2 years ago there were no advertisements for "Budweiser," just "Bud." I asked why and they told me that it was because of the trademakk dispute.

If you're in the mood for a good Pilsner, try Pilsner Urquell. mmm...

HornBoy is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm pretty sure you're right Jimi, there is currently a dispute going on over the advertsing for the World Cup in Germany. AB will be using "Bud" for all stadium advertising as they are not allowed to use the Budweiser name in Germany. I think both AB and BB (Czech company) are allowed to use the name in London but only AB can use it in the US, thus the Czechvar name.

Who cares what it's called anyway, this is great - trumpets and beer: 2 of my favourite things!
