![]() | Two South American Tangos by A.G. Villoldo Gentlemen and Ladies, I attended my one and only rehearsal tonight. The concert is Friday the 16th. I thought I was only playing on Tannhauser. I was handed three more pieces on which to play first trumpet. It won't be a problem. They are high school level pieces. I have an interpretive question on the second movement, "La Comparsita". This is at Tempo di Tango. At measure 53 the first trumpet has a muted series of whole notes tied to half notes (six counts) separated by moving half notes. I found myself sight reading a solo line while the strings had a moving part. Sort of an obligato an octave lower. I am going to play it the way the violins do on youtube. The videos on youtube are smooth, violin, tone color. Not much vibrato if any. I'll listen to any suggestions. Last edited by stchasking : 05-13-2008 at 12:17 AM. |
