Two South American Tangos by A.G. Villoldo

Gentlemen and Ladies,

I attended my one and only rehearsal tonight. The concert is Friday the 16th.
I thought I was only playing on Tannhauser. I was handed three more pieces on which to play first trumpet. It won't be a problem. They are high school level pieces.

I have an interpretive question on the second movement, "La Comparsita". This is at Tempo di Tango. At measure 53 the first trumpet has a muted series of whole notes tied to half notes (six counts) separated by moving half notes. I found myself sight reading a solo line while the strings had a moving part. Sort of an obligato an octave lower.

I am going to play it the way the violins do on youtube.
The videos on youtube are smooth, violin, tone color. Not much vibrato if any.

I'll listen to any suggestions.
