| Pianissimo User | I have a guess. Arturo played for years on a Shilke X3. Being out of the states, he might have decided to use it instead. And I am a huge Arturo fan. I have seen him live 4 times, never disappointed, except I wish he would stop singing and just play. I don't care if he changes embouchres, he is a monster. V/R Joshua Sullins

When Will Scarlett left the CSO it was reported that I went to the audition (false, no interest whatsoever), didn't get into that finals and pitched a fit screaming "That's my chair, that's my chair!" It has also been reported by MANY people by this point that Wynton and I used to duke it out over part assignments at Eastern Music Festival. Wynton is four years younger than I am and we were never at EMF together. He started going the year after I left. I never even heard of him until I got my first pro orchestra gig in Seattle. I mention those two incidents ony to point out that people's memories about things can be shady, at best, sometimes. I have always known Maynard to be a gentleman to his fans and very secure about his station in jazz history. ML | |

| Pianissimo User | Well said, Manny. It must be odd to hear such outlandish rumors about yourself... I wish I was popular enough to hear horrible rumors spread about me. hehe But seriously, I met Maynard twice and he was so nice to me. I have heard people say that he doesn't put up with any crap professionally (from people who used to play in his bands over the years...) but I have never heard any fan complain about him being rude. He was very approachable and human when I met him. I think that "PINCHUNO" was talking about Arturo... I have met him once, and he was very nice to me, although he seemed very busy and didn't have a lot of time to talk with me. Understandable for someone in his position. Again, I enjoyed hearing your story, Manny. V/R Joshua Sullins

I hate to spread rumors, but word has it that you're preparing to run for governor of Wisonson. Can you confirm?

| Pianissimo User | I am not Chuck, but if I may.... Holston is still making Maynard's line of horns, but Maynard doesn't use them anymore... I could very well be wrong, but I think he is using Monettes now. V/R Joshua

![]() | Arturo in Tenerife I just thought I'd clear up that I was in fact talking about Arturo and not Maynard. The story came straight from the mouths of the support band themselves and since all involved ares Spanish speakers, there wasn't much to "lose in translation" of Arturo's comments. |
