Best Cities?

What are some of the best cities to perform and make a good living playing trumpet? I have been woundering this for a while. What places do you think are the most trumpet friendly? Were is the best places to find gigs, performances, recording and jam sessions?

Well, the obvious answers would be : New York City, Los Angeles , Chicago, Nashville,
these cities have a lot of "studio work" and "live music ". There are other cities though that have some studio work and have pretty good "live music " scenes, Dallas is a good example, there is a fair amopunt of recording work there and a pretty good live scene. There is a lot of live music in Miami also.
It is funny that some really large cities have almost no live jazz or any other music (trumpet related) to speak of. Of course , we are talking freelance here ,not symphony players that have a contract position.

Not an immediate answer, but check out this coming years ITG journal. In my column (Studio /Commercial Scene) I'll be featuring reports on some of the major music scenes.
Coming up will be: SF Bay Area, Chicago, LA and Miami.

areas with a lot of live music, but not as much recording...
