![]() | IMPRO Warmup Discussion Ahoy All, Since I stumbled into the great TM corner of cyberspace I had a hunt around for the exact thing that I wanted to discuss most, and didn't find it... Maybe I needed to look harder... Then I thought well why not start it up myself... soooo here goes, We all do warmups or a daily routine or blow the cobwebs out as we step on stage, but are they tailored for improvisors? How do you peeps get yourselves into that zone, that one in ten shows zone where everything in your head just flows out the bell? Do you try to get there in your regular practice? If yes, how? What excercies, technical or cereberal? What are you trying to visualise? Melodic shapes, contours, harmony, arpeggios? What makes your spontaneous mind tick? None of the popular warmups/daily routines got remotely close for me. So being the pedant that I am I decided to put my own routine together. Some good, some OK some so specific to my own technical issues as to be bizarre... I shall post my actual routine in a seperate thread in the hope that others will join the party by posting their routines there and discussing the what's and why's here. Post if it's a good idea, or just let it fade... Paul

![]() | Re: IMPRO Warmup Discussion That's a pity - this seems to be fading.... Ingrid's forum is full of good advice about this. My 2c is sing - just blow and develop things you like, play so that your sound is following your ears, and have fun!
