Re: Maynard Tribute

As I heard it Eric was Maynards translator in Japan. Sort of a host and guide. I am pretty sure Eric played in the band while in Japan.

I talked to the people at Contemporary Entertainment in Clayton, Missouri today. Eric was not a paid member of the Maynard Ferguson Band(s). But, he often sat in when Maynard was close by. Maynard and Eric were good friends. I think Eric has some words to this on his web site. The person at Contemporary Ent. said that Eric has always been in demand on his own right and never had to join as a paid member.

I bought my Maynard Ferguson Tribute DVD and a CD while I was there.

If any of you are looking for gigs in St. Louis you should get in contact with Contemporary Entertainment through their web site.

Re: Maynard Tribute

That was really good! And Maynard is one of the best. Patrick Hession was incredible. That is a great ensemble right there.

Re: Maynard Tribute

How about Walter White? Some of those guys play so "upstream" I thought the trumpet would touch there noses. I didn't see any down stream players.

And the equipment, what a variation in mouthpieces? One soloist had such a small mouthpiece that it looked like an extension of his lead tube.
Andrea Tofanelli uses a heavy wall, others use conventional.

Some play straight out and others off to the side.

The CD is a lesson in diversity.

Re: Maynard Tribute

I watched DVD number two of the tribute album. That DVD is loaded with Maynard clips. It is worth the price of the total package.
