A message from Snooky

Hi,

If you read the East Coast / West Coast post previously you read i was call ing Snooky to ask what he played on before his 30 year tenure with his Getzen that Doc gave to him.

Like the gentleman he is, he returned my call and informed me that while in New York , he played a Conn 60b and Clark Terry played Selmer k-Modified's 24b or Grand Prix. Both played Selmer flugels.

The great Clark Terry went on to an Old's endorsement and Snooky got the Getzen ( Doc gave Johnny Audino and Snooky personal models, all based on the NY Bach's that Doc used to play , Audino's being a large bore. )

His grand-daughter ( who happened to be visiting grandpa ) sent over this clip form his birthday party held in 2001 when he was 81. ( which I was at along with every other trumpet player in town ). I'd thought I'd share it with all you.

Enjoy

Snooky would sound great on a Coke can. Why? Because he practiced.
